ಆರ್‌ಟಿಐ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಟಿ ಹಣದ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ: ಮುಂಡಗೋಡ-ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿ ಗ್ಯಾಂಗ್ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಬಲೆಗೆ..!

ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿ/ಮುಂಡಗೋಡ: ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಹಕ್ಕು ಕಾಯ್ದೆಯ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯವರನ್ನ  ಬೆದರಿಸಿ ಹಣ ವಸೂಲಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮುಂಡಗೋಡದ ಗ್ಯಾಂಗ್‌ ಅನ್ನು ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿ ಗೋಕಲ ಠಾಣೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು  ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಂದು ನಡೆದ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಐದು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದು ಬಂಧಿತರಿಂದ‌, 1.70 ಲಕ್ಷ ನಗದು ಹಾಗೂ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ವಿರೇಶಕುಮಾರ್ ಮಹದೇಶ್ವರ ಲಿಂಗದಾಳ (ಮುಂಡಗೋಡ), ಮಹದೇಶ್ವರ ಲಿಂಗದಾಳ, ಮಹಾಬಲೇಶ್ವರ ಶಿರೂರ್, ಶಿವಪ್ಪ ಬೊಮ್ಮನಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಮಂಜುನಾಥ್ ಹದ್ದಣ್ಣ (ಗದಗ) ಬಂಧಿತ ಆರೋಪಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

1.5 ಕೋಟಿ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಗ್ಯಾಂಗ್
ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿಯ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಸಹಕಾರಿ ಸಂಘದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಆರೋಪಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ, ಆರ್‌ಟಿಐ ಅರ್ಜಿ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಈ ಗ್ಯಾಂಗ್‌, “ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡದಿದ್ದರೆ 1.5 ಕೋಟಿ ನೀಡಿ” ಎಂದು ಬೆದರಿಕೆ ಹಾಕಿದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯವರು ಪೊಲೀಸರಿಗೆ ದೂರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು.
ದೂರು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದ ಗೋಕಲ ಠಾಣೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯವರ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಹಣ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಲು ಬಂದ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆರೋಪಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಬಂಧಿತರು, ಮುಂಡಗೋಡ, ಶಿರಸಿ, ಹಾವೇರಿ, ಶಿಗ್ಗಾವಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೇ ರೀತಿ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಆರ್‌ಟಿಐ ಅರ್ಜಿ, ಒತ್ತಡ, ಬೆದರಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಣ ವಸೂಲಿ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಆರ್‌ ಟಿಐ ಕಾಯ್ದೆಯ ಮೂಲ ಉದ್ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದುರುಪಯೋಗಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು “ಮಾಹಿತಿ”ಯನ್ನೇ ಹಣ ಗಳಿಕೆಯ ಸಾಧನವಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ತನಿಖಾ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಪೊಲೀಸರಿಂದ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ
“ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಹಕ್ಕಿನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಣದ ಒತ್ತಡ ಅಥವಾ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಎದುರಿಸಿದರೆ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಪೊಲೀಸರಿಗೆ ದೂರು ನೀಡಿ. ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಆರ್‌ಟಿಐ ಅರ್ಜಿಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ಮಾಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ವಹಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಗೋಕಲ ಠಾಣೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Hubballi/Mundagod: A gang from Hubballi and Mundagod that had been intimidating government officials and private organizations to extort money in the name of the Right to Information (RTI) Act has been arrested by Gokul Police Station, Hubballi. In the operation conducted today, police arrested five individuals and seized ₹1.70 lakh cash along with several documents.

The arrested accused have been identified as:
Vireshkumar Mahadeshwar Lingadaal (Mundagod), Mahadeshwar Lingadaal, Mahabaleshwar Shirur, Shivappa Bommanahalli, Manjunath Haddanna (Gadag)

Gang demanded ₹1.5 Crore
The gang reportedly filed false RTI applications against a private cooperative society in Hubballi and later threatened the society demanding ₹1.5 crore for “withdrawing” the allegations. Following a complaint filed by the society, Gokul Police along with the complainants set a trap and arrested the accused while they had come to collect the money.

Modus Operandi Across Districts
According to police, the accused had been following the same pattern of filing fake RTI applications, creating pressure, issuing threats and extorting money across multiple districts including Mundagod, Sirsi, Haveri and Shiggaon. Investigators stated that the gang had misused the very purpose of the RTI Act, turning “information” into a tool for illegal financial gain.

Police Advisory
Police have urged officials and organizations:
“If anyone uses the name of RTI to demand money or create pressure, immediately file a police complaint. Every RTI application received must be carefully verified,” Gokul Police officials advised.
