ಶಿರಸಿ : ತೋಟಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಾಡು ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳು ನುಗ್ಗದಂತೆ ಬೇಲಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಬಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಸುಮಾರು 14ಅಡಿ ಉದ್ದದ ದೈತ್ಯ ಕಾಳಿಂಗ ಸರ್ಪವೊಂದನ್ನ ಕುಮಟಾದ ಸಾಹಸಿ ಉರಗ ತಜ್ಞ  ಪವನ ನಾಯ್ಕ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಕಳೆದ ಎರಡು ದಿನಗಳಿಂದ ಶಿರಸಿ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ರಾಗಿಹೊಸಳ್ಳಿಯ ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ್ ಹೆಗಡೆಯವರ ಮನೆಯ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಕಾಳಿಂಗ ಸರ್ಪ ತೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಡುಹಂದಿಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆಂದು ಹಾಕಿದ ಬೆಲೆಯು ಸುತ್ತುವರಿದಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಲಾಗದೆ ಬಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿಕೊಂಡಿತ್ತು.ಎರಡು ದಿನ ಕಳೆದು ಅಲ್ಲೆ ಇರುವುದನ್ನ ಕಂಡ ತೋಟದ ಮಾಲೀಕರು ಉರಗ ತಜ್ಞ ಪವನ್‌ಕುಮಾರ ಅವರನ್ನ ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಚಾಣಾಕ್ಯ ಉರಗ ತಜ್ಞ ಎಂಬ ಖ್ಯಾತೀಯನ್ನ ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಪವನ್ ಕುಮಾರ ತಕ್ಷಣ ರಾಗಿಹೊಸಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ತೆರಳಿ ಬಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಒದ್ದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಭಾರೀ ಗಾತ್ರದ ಕಾಳಿಂಗ ಸರ್ಪವೊಂದನ್ನ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಕಾಡಿಗೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಕಾಳಿಂಗ ಸರ್ಪವನ್ನ ನೋಡಿದ ಸ್ಥಳೀರು ಬೆಚ್ಚಿಬಿದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇನ್ನೂ‌ಕೆಲವರು ಭಯಭೀತರಾಗಿ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಕಾಳಿಂಗ ಸರ್ಪ ಸಾಧು ಹಾಗೂ ನಾಚಿಕೆ ಸ್ವಭಾವದ ಜೀವಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು. ತನಗೆ ಅತಿಯಾದ ತೊಂದರೆ ನೀಡಿದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕಚ್ಚುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಇದ್ದು, ಕಳೆದ 4-5 ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಕಚ್ಚಿದ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗಳಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಪವನ್ ಕುಮಾರ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Giant King Cobra Rescued by Snake Expert Pavan Naik
Sirsi: A massive King Cobra measuring nearly 14 feet, which had been trapped in a fence set up to prevent wild animals from entering farms, was safely rescued by the brave snake expert Pavan Naik from Kumta.

For the past two days, the King Cobra had been seen in the garden of Prashanth Hegde’s house in Raghihosalli of Sirsi taluk. The snake got stuck in the fencing installed as a protection measure against wild boars and was unable to escape. When the owners noticed that the cobra had remained trapped for two days, they contacted snake expert Pavan Kumar.

Widely known across Uttara Kannada district as an intelligent and skilled snake rescuer, Pavan Kumar rushed to Raghihosalli and rescued the exhausted giant King Cobra from the trap before releasing it safely into the forest. Locals who witnessed the massive snake were shocked, and some even fled the spot in fear.

Pavan Kumar stated that King Cobras are generally shy and calm creatures, attacking only when severely provoked. He also mentioned that in the last 4–5 years, there have been no recorded incidents of King Cobras biting anyone in the state.
