ಉಡುಪಿ: ಕನ್ನಡ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪ್ರಾಧಿಕಾರದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಪ್ರೊ. ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ್ ಬಿಳಿಮಲೆ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ “ಬಹುತೇಕರು ಸಲಿಂಗಿಗಳು” ಎನ್ನುವ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಗೆ ತೀವ್ರ ವಿರೋಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ತಲ್ಲೂರು ಶಿವರಾಮ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ, “ಬಿಳಿಮಲೆ ಅವರ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನ ಖಂಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಉಡುಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, “ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಕಲಾರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವರೂ, ಕೆಟ್ಟವರೂ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇಂತಹ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯೀಕರಣ ಮಾಡುವ ಹೇಳಿಕೆ ನೀಡುವುದು ಯಾವುದೇ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸನಿಗೂ ಸಮಜಸಹವಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
“ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆಯಿಂದ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಆದರೆ ಫೋನ್ ಸ್ವಿಚ್ ಆಫ್ ಇದೆ. ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಇಂದು ಜಾಗತಿಕವಾಗಿ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಲೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂತಹ ವಿವಾದಾತ್ಮಕ ಹೇಳಿಕೆ ನೀಡುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದು ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
“ಅವರ ಬಳಿ ಕ್ಷಮೆ ಕೇಳುವಂತೆ ಕೇಳುತ್ತೀರಾ?” ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದ ಅವರು, “ಅವರು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರು. ನಾನು ಅವರಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಮಾತನಾಡಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ಸಿಕ್ಕರೆ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
Statement by Bilimale on Yakshagana artistes : Academy president Shivaram Shetty strongly condemns
Udupi: Strong opposition has erupted against the statement made by Kannada Development Authority Chairman Prof. Purushottam Bilimale, who said that “most Yakshagana artistes are homosexuals.” Yakshagana Academy State President Tallur Shivaram Shetty has strongly condemned Bilimale’s remark.
Speaking to the media in Udupi, Shetty said, “In the Yakshagana art field, there are good people and bad people. But making such generalized statements is not appropriate for any scholar.”
He added, “Since morning, I have been trying to contact him, but his phone is switched off. Yakshagana is an art form that is gaining global recognition today. At such a time, making such controversial statements is not right.”
Responding to a question on whether he would demand an apology from Bilimale, Shetty said, “He is a scholar of national stature. I am not as big a person as he is. If I get a chance to speak to him, I will explain the matter.”
