Kumta: A distressing incident has come to light from Kumta, where a Revenue Inspector from the Town Municipal Council (TMC) has gone missing, leaving behind a handwritten note that has sparked serious concern.
The missing official, identified as Venkatesh R, reportedly left a letter addressed to his mother, alleging that he had been facing continuous harassment from a recently appointed senior officer. In the note, he claimed that he was subjected to caste-based discrimination and pressure to approve unauthorized constructions, which he refused to do.
According to sources, Venkatesh had been appointed to the TMC on compassionate grounds following his father’s death, who had also served in the same office. In the letter, Venkatesh alleged that the officer’s mistreatment had worsened over time. He mentioned being publicly humiliated on October 7, 2025, in front of his colleagues, which deeply affected him.
The emotional note further revealed his distress, with Venkatesh asking his mother to look after his younger siblings. Although the letter hints at possible self-harm, police officials have not confirmed this angle and are treating the matter as a missing person case.
Kumta police have launched a search operation and are verifying the details mentioned in the letter. They have urged the public to come forward with any information regarding Venkatesh’s whereabouts.
