ದಾಂಡೇಲಿ: ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡದ ದಾಂಡೇಲಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರೂಪದ ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿಯ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಮೂಡಿಸಿದೆ. ಗಣೇಶಗುಡಿಯ ಸೇತುವೆ ಬಳಿ ಕತ್ತೆಕಿರುಬ (Hyena) ಒಂದನ್ನು ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಮೊಬೈಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಕೆಲ ದಿನಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕುಳಗಿ ಹುಲಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿತ ವಲಯದ ಒಳಗಡೆ ಇದೇ ಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿತ್ತು ಎನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ.ಆದರೆ ದಾಂಡೇಲಿ ವಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದುವರೆಗೆ ಕತ್ತೆಕಿರುಬ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಇದು ಹೇಗೆ ಬಂತು? ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ತಜ್ಞರಲ್ಲಿ ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಗ್ರಾಸವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನವ-ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಸಂಸ್ಪರ್ಶ ಘಟನೆಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿರತೆಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈ ನಡುವೆ ಕತ್ತೆಕಿರುಬ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕತ್ತೆಕಿರುಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ನೇರ ಅಪಾಯ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಕೊಳೆಯಾದ ಅಥವಾ ಸತ್ತು ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ಕಾಡಿನ ಪರಿಸರ ಸಮತೋಲನ ಕಾಯುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೂ, ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ತೆರಳುವಾಗ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ವಹಿಸುವುದು ಅಗತ್ಯ.
Dandeli: An appearance of a rare wild animal in the forests of Dandeli in Uttara Kannada has created curiosity among the locals. A hyena was spotted near the Ganeshgudi bridge and was captured on mobile phones by villagers.
A few days ago, the same species was reportedly seen inside the Kulgi Tiger Reserve area. However, there were no earlier records of hyenas being sighted in the Dandeli region. This has now led to discussions among wildlife experts on how the animal entered this area. In recent times, incidents of human-wildlife interaction have increased, with tigers and leopards being sighted more frequently in forest regions. The unexpected appearance of a hyena has added to these ongoing discussions.
Generally, hyenas do not pose direct danger to humans. They mostly feed on carcasses of dead animals and play an important role in maintaining ecological balance in the forest. However, locals and tourists are advised to exercise caution while entering forest zones.
