ಕುಮಟಾ : ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಪುರಸಭೆ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ 5ನೇ ವಾರ್ಡಿನ ಉಪ್ಪಾರ ಕೇರಿಯ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಆಟೋ ಚಾಲಕರು ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಇದೀಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಇಂದು ದೂರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಸುಮಾರು 30 ಆಟೋ ರಿಕ್ಷಾಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಉಪ್ಪಾರ ಕೇರಿಯ ಆಟೋ ಚಾಲಕರು, ಹೊಸ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಡಿಗೆ (ಪಾಳಿ) ಹಾಕಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡದೆ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಗುಳಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಹಳೆಯ ಬಸ್ ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರಗೊಂಡು ಹೊಸ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣ 5ನೇ ವಾರ್ಡಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಹಳೆಯ ಬಸ್‌ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ನ 60 ಆಟೋ, ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ನ 32 ಆಟೋ ಹಾಗೂ ಉಪ್ಪಾರ ಕೇರಿಯ 14 ಆಟೋ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಒಟ್ಟು 106 ಆಟೋಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೆಮಾಡುವ ಒಪ್ಪಂದವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಚಾಲಕರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಂತರ, ಉಪ್ಪಾರ ಕೇರಿಯ ಆಟೋಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಸ್ ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಒಳಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶವನ್ನೇ ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಹಳೆಯ ಬಸ್‌ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ನ ಕೆಲ ಆಟೋ ಚಾಲಕರು ತಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ದೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಘಟನೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿ ಕುಮಟಾ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೂರು ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. CPI ಮತ್ತು PSI ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಸಭೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ಉಪ್ಪಾರ ಕೇರಿಯ ಆಟೋಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶ ಕೊಡಿ ಎಂದು ಸೂಚಿಸಿದರೂ, ಇನ್ನೂ ತನಕ್ಕ ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಿಲ್ಲ.

ಹೊರಗಿನ ಆಟೋಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶ, ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರಿಗೆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯ?
ಸದ್ಯ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಆಟೋಗಳಲ್ಲಿ 50%ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಆಟೋಗಳು ನಗರದ ಹೊರ ಭಾಗಗಳಾದ ಕಾಗಲ್ ಬಾಡ, ಹೆಗಡೆ, ವಾಳ್ಗಳ್ಳಿ, ಹಳದಿಪುರ ಪಂಚಾಯತ್ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯವುಗಳಾಗಿವೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರ ಆರೋಪವಾಗಿದ್ದು.
ಕೆಲವರು ಸಂಘಟಕರು ಹೊರಗಿನವರಿಂದ 3ರಿಂದ 4 ಲಕ್ಷ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಪಡೆದು ಹೊರಗಿನ ಆಟೋಗಳಿಗೆ ಪಾಳಿಗೆ ಹಚ್ಚಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯೋ 10-12 ಆಟೋಗಳನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಿ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಲಕರನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿ ಹಣ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ಆಟೋ ಚಾಲಕರು ಗಂಭೀರ ಆರೋಪ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಸಿಪಿಐ ಆದೇಶವೂ ಜಾರಿ ಆಗದ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ
ಕಳೆದ ಹತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ CPI ಅವರು ಉಪ್ಪಾರ ಕೇರಿಯ ಆಟೋಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಸ್‌ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಒಳಗೆ ಬಾಡಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿದರೂ, ನಂತರ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಹಣ ಬಲಗಳಿಂದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಒತ್ತಡ ಹಾಕಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ಆರೋಪಿದ್ದು, ತಹಶೀಲ್ದಾರರು ಮತ್ತು ಶಾಸಕರು ಸಭೆ ಕರೆದ ನಂತರವೇ ಅಂತಿಮ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಸಿಪಿಐ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ಮನವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

“ನಾವು ಕಾನೂನಿಗೆ ಸದಾ ಗೌರವ ನೀಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಚಾಲಕನಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಕಾದರೂ ಬಾಡಿಗೆ ಹಾಕುವ ಹಕ್ಕು ಇದೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮುಂದಿನ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಸಿಗದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಮೇತ ಬಸ್ ಸ್ಟಾಂಡ್ ಒಳಗೆ ಧರಣಿ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ” ಎಂದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಆಟೋ ಚಾಲಕರು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

If Justice is Not Served, Protest Will Be Held at Bus Stand: Warn Auto Drivers
Kumta: The local auto drivers of Uppara Keri in the 5th ward of the town municipality have submitted a complaint to the District Commissioner today, alleging ongoing injustice and harassment that they have been facing for several years.

The auto drivers of Uppara Keri, who collectively operate around 30 auto rickshaws, have alleged that they have been unfairly denied permission to park and operate (ply in rotation) at the new bus stand area.

When the old bus stand was shifted to the new location in the 5th ward, an agreement was reportedly made to allocate space for a total of 106 autos—60 from the old bus stand, 32 from Katti Stand, and 14 from Uppara Keri. However, the Uppara Keri auto drivers claim that later they were completely denied entry into the new bus stand, allegedly due to obstruction by a group of auto drivers from the old stand.

“We approached the police, yet did not get justice”A complaint was filed at the Kumta Police Station regarding the issue. The CPI and PSI had conducted a discussion and instructed that Uppara Keri auto drivers must be allowed to operate. However, the instructions have still not been implemented, they alleged.

External autos allowed while locals are sidelined?Locals allege that more than 50% of the autos currently operating inside the bus stand are from outside areas such as Kagal Bada, Hegde, Valgalli, and Haladipur Panchayat limits.

Further, the complainants accuse certain organizers of illegally collecting ₹3–4 lakh from external auto owners to allow them space to operate. They also allege that one individual has purchased 10–12 autos and hired drivers to run them inside the town to make profit.

CPI’s order not enforced

Though the CPI had reportedly instructed 10 days ago that Uppara Keri autos must be allowed to operate inside the bus stand, the order was allegedly not carried out due to political influence and money power. The CPI has now stated that a final decision will be made only after a meeting is held by the Tahsildar and local MLA, according to the petition.

“If justice is not granted, protest will be inevitable”

“We have always respected the law. Every auto driver has the right to operate in public areas. But injustice has been done to us. If we do not receive fair justice in the upcoming meeting, we will be forced to stage a protest inside the bus stand along with our families,” warned the local auto drivers.
